Some Ideas On Optimizing Performance Of A Cloud Deployment

Some Ideas on Optimizing Performance of a Cloud Deployment

Cloud is fast becoming one of the primary factors ushering a paradigm shift in technology and the way business is done. With Cloud penetration increasing and big enterprises making the move to the Cloud, there’s a growing discussion around optimizing performance of the infrastructure that powers a Cloud. New ways are being pioneered on optimizing performance of a Cloud infrastructure. With the befitting benefits like flexibility, program development interfaces (APIs), self-service provisioning and automated de-provisioning, the Cloud does bring some undesired realities like latency, query lags, security vulnerabilities and aggregated failures. I will try to briefly touch some of the ideas which can help mitigate these issues which may pose detrimental losses to a Cloud deployment.

Cloud experts stress the importance of using Green Cloud structure in order to elevate the power efficiency per watt. Green cloud architecture deploys the efficient algorithms that are responsible for conducive and efficacious scheduling. The smart scheduling of the system calls and remote allocation of resources will allow the cloud resources and respective hardware to optimize the performance thus saving the power and cost.

As clouds are responsible for handling various virtual resources on a single layer, data flow and remote calls are difficult to handle. There is a useful and congenial approach to optimize the performance of the cloud using the RandTest technique which is being used massively these days to regulate the data integrity. There must be a regular check on the different aspects of the cloud in order to make sure that different parts of the cloud communication sessions are working fine. To achieve this, Quality of Experience(QoE) models are deployed in order to check whether the cloud computing availability model, outbound bandwidth model, a latency model and a cloud computing response time model are intact and communicating with each other or not.

Distribution of resources along with smart switching is one of the key factors in optimizing the performance of the cloud. As there are multiple remote resources connected to a cloud, many a time they consume the efficiency and processing power of the cloud uselessly. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) must be deployed to get rid of the resources in idle state. Techniques like bin-packing, mixed integer programming and performance models must be used in the deployment of the clouds in large data centers. MapReduce is the most useful technique that must be used to optimizing the performance of the cloud based servers. MapReduce architecture does not only elevate the energy efficiency of the hardware, it also depletes the latency and lags by using its efficient back end algorithms.

Smart cloud recommenders like Cloud service recommendation system (CSRS) must be the part of your cloud design and deployment in order to facilitate the users to choose the best suitable set of services. Optimizing the database servers is the key in the optimization of clouds. You must use pipelining, scheduling, load balancing and database optimization techniques in your query structures for better results.
